Naturopaths are more common than you think, but you want to be careful that you choose one who has been to an accredited 4-year naturopathic college. Some doctors labeling themselves as naturopaths have not graduated from a college, but rather completed some type of correspondence course. These types of naturopaths may be sufficient for general health counseling, but if you want a doctor to be able to perform physical exams, run labs and write prescriptions if needed, you need to visit a naturopath from an accredited school.

Naturopaths evaluate the whole person, and work hard to find the cause of your symptoms rather than just make your symptoms go away. Because of this we have a very different visit schedule than your average M.D.
