Services & Fees

Naturopathic doctors are a great option for your primary health provider or for complimentary care. Here are some of the modalities I use in my practice:

  • Drainage Therapy (UNDA Numbers)

Drainage is a therapy that addresses healing on a cellular level. The purpose is to help the body open its emunctories (the organs of elimination such as kidneys, liver and skin), so it can more efficiently metabolize and excrete toxins and prevent dis-ease. This process usually involves a combination of liquid homeopathics taken throughout the day, and can address your physical and/or emotional disharmony on several levels, slowly unraveling your chronic conditions like layers of an onion.
  • Emotional Freedom Technique

This form of energetic medicine was developed by Gary Craig and uses the tapping of acupressure points while saying affirmations to help remap your emotions and relieve pain. This has been known to treat mental-emotional issues such as depression and anxiety, as well as physical ailments such as allergies and chronic pain.
  • Environmental Medicine

In today's age, it's hard to avoid chemicals - in food, air or water. Environmental medicine focuses on helping the body become more efficient in naturally detoxing from these daily chemical exposures. This focus of medicine includes heavy metal detoxification, solvent detoxification, chemical sensitivities/exposures and general support of the body's natural detox mechanisms.
  • Family Medicine

Does your husband have a cough? What about the kids? I always hate categorizing "Women's Health" by itself, but frankly, women are who go to the doctor most often! I am happy to treat men and children 3 & up for both their acute and chronic needs as well. Whether it is a cough or cold, urinary tract problems, ADHD, autism and more, naturopathic care can help!
  • Far Infrared Sauna Therapy

Far Infrared Saunas are a form of heat that warms your tissues directly, rather than just warming the air around you. It's the same type of heat we get naturally from the sun, only without the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. This form of therapy is useful for many conditions from detoxification to weight loss and chronic pain relief.
  • Herbs / Botanicals

Natural botanicals provide excellent therapeutic treatment and tend to have far less side-effects than pharmaceuticals. They often help support many systems at once whereas many pharmaceuticals primarily focus on one system. Herbs are a powerful medicine and there are possible interactions with common medications. Always tell your doctor if you are taking any botanical medicines when you are asked what medications you are on, and please only use botanicals under the supervision of a naturopathic doctor or certified herbalist. Gemmotherapy, otherwise known as flower-bud therapy, is another aspect of botanicals I use to address your chronic and acute conditions on both a physical and emotional level.
  • Homeopathy

Homeopathy is an energetic medicine customized to each patient. The correct remedy is made by getting your whole picture - body and mind, acute symptoms and chronic. It uses vibrational energetics to aid you in your healing crisis. These are those little, white, magic pills you keep hearing about! When the right remedy is found, they are an exceptional addition to your treatment plan. Cell salts, another form of homeopathy, are also used in my practice.
  • Hydrotherapy

Perhaps one of the oldest and most effective types of therapy, hydrotherapy is any treatment using water as your therapeutic source. There are many different ways of doing hydrotherapy and one of your treatments with me may include some sort of hydrotherapy for you to do either at home or here at the clinic.
  • Injections

Intramuscular injections, the most common being vitamin B shots, are yet another way to get nutrients to the body in a more absorptive manner.
  • Kinesiotaping

Kinesiotaping is a form of supportive taping, that can help the body retrain how to function properly. The tape is a stretchy tape, used to hold the fascia (connective tissue between the skin and muscle layers) in a certain way to provide therapeutic effects. This tape usually stays on the area for 3-4 days and is a form of physical therapy, or sports medicine. This therapy is great option for sprains/strains, and other acute injuries, as well as chronic aches and pains.
  • Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT, aka "cold" laser)

Laser therapy is a safe and effective way to treat almost anything! It can be useful for acute and chronic pain/injuries, women's health issues like uterine fibroids and endometriosis, to help reduce adhesions and scarring from surgery/wounds, diabetic ulcers, lymphedema, carpal tunnel, Herpes simplex, tinnitus, sinusitis...the list goes on and on...I do not currently have a laser in my Maine office, but stay tuned as I plan to make this an available treatment as soon as possible!
  • Minor Surgery

Naturopaths are trained to do outpatient surgeries including the fat and skin layers of the body. This includes excision of cysts, abscess incision & drainage, mole/wart removal, skin tag removal, biopsies and more. In my practice, I mostly perform incision & drainage as well as mole/wart /skin tag removal through punch biopsy, lift-and-snip (literally snipping with surgical scissors) or cryotherapy (freezing with liquid nitrogen), which are very simple procedures and only take minutes. Many of these are performed with a local anesthetic.
  • Neural Therapy / Trigger Point Injections

This is a modality that I am learning more about and am seeing great results when it comes to chronic pain. This therapy uses a local anesthetic injected just under the skin in several "bubbles" around the area that is causing you pain. This not only creates immediate pain relief, but it also resets your nervous system at that local level, so as to reduce pain in the future. If pain is also due to trigger points, or "knots" in the muscle, I may inject those points as well after already numbing the surface of the skin with the above neural therapy.
  • Nutraceuticals / Supplements

Supplements can be a wonderful aid to kick your health back into gear. I am a firm believer that we should get as much as we can through nutrition only, but that is not always available, or can be hard to stick to with today's busy lifestyles. This is where supplements come in. When supplements are needed, I only recommend the highest quality available, those of which have been tested by third-parties, so I know that what is on the label is what is in the bottle.
  • Nutrition

Many health issues can be prevented by good nutrition. Like your mama told you, you are what you eat! Most of us never get the proper training on how and why we eat. It is not only to fuel our bodies and minds, but also to keep our systems in prime working order so infection and illness cannot invade. This treatment includes nutritional plans for weight loss, food allergies and alleviating symptoms of chronic disease.
  • Physical Medicine

Physical medicine is widely used in my profession. I have been trained in manipulation similar to that of a chiropractor. I do use manipulation when needed, but also focus on energy work such as orthobiotomy and therapeutic massage. Sometimes, I use therapeutic machines to help calm your pain and inflammation such as microcurrent and therapeutic ultrasound. I have also recently being trained in the uses of the LLLT (low level laser therapy - see above), which can also effectively reduce pain and inflammation.
  • Women's Health

I am available to help women of all ages - from irregular periods and menopause, to yeast infections and birth control. Though I am not a midwife and do not treat pregnancy, I do help with the nutritional needs of the pre- and post-natal mother. I also prescribe bio-identical hormones when needed for peri- and post-menopausal women. I am currently not equipped to perform annual PAP smears, but can do general infection and breast exams.

Naturopathic care works very well as a complementary treatment if you are currently being treated by another care provider. I work hard to create relationships with my patients' physicians to give them the best therapeutic treatment available, from colds to cancer. My goal is to work with the allopathic community, not against it, in providing the best care for my patients.
